Batesville hasn't had much luck against East Central recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bulldogs will challenge the Trojans at 5:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Batesville's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against South Ripley as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.
Grace Copley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Copley was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caitlyn Fox, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
Batesville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Ripley only posted an OBP of .125.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Central). They walked away with a 16-13 win over Jennings County on Saturday. With that victory, the Trojans brought their scoring average up to 7.5 runs per game.
Taylor Sommer was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 5-for-5. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Paige Hotze was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Batesville now has a winning record of 2-1. As for East Central, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-3 record.
Batesville's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's matchup. The Bulldogs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for East Central, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Batesville continue to outrun the ball?
Batesville suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to East Central when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
