The Carroll Cougars will face off against the Lafayette Central Catholic Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Carroll sitting on six straight wins and the Knights on five.
Carroll stacked a 15th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They blew past Lafayette Jefferson, posting a 64-21 victory at home. Given Carroll's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Bronchos are ranked 306th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alli Harness continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. She hasn't dropped below 15 points for 13 straight games. Another player making a difference was Madison Wagner, who scored 11 points along with eight assists and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Lafayette Central Catholic walked away with it. They claimed a resounding 71-35 win over the Patriots on the road. Lafayette Central Catholic's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Carroll pushed their record up to 21-3 with that win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season.
Carroll came up short against the Knights when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 52-44. Can Carroll avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
