The Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Cary Christian Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wake Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Wake Christian Academy proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 14) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past John Paul II Catholic 2-1. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Saints recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Gavin Pacileo tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jeffrey Newsome, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Cary Christian got the win against St. David's on Thursday by a conclusive 12-1. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by ten runs or more this season.
Jacob Reeves and Samuel Snyder were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Reeves pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Snyder tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Reeves has been consistent : he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Reeves scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Snyder scored two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Reeves has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Cary Christian got a big performance out of Reed Harvey, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Luke Dearolf also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Cary Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Cary Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. Wake Christian Academy pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wake Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Cary Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
