Whitman and Wootton are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Whitman Vikings' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Wootton Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on February 13th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Whitman was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-42 to Walter Johnson.
Meanwhile, Wootton came up short against Bethesda-Chevy Chase on Friday and fell 49-42. While losing is never fun, Wootton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while Bethesda-Chevy Chase is ranked 35th).
Whitman's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Wootton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-10.
Everything came up roses for Whitman against Wootton when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 67-33 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Whitman since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
