They walked away with a 62-55 victory over IMG Academy Silver on Wednesday. Given Bell Creek Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the Ascenders are ranked 630th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bell Creek Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jermal Jones led the charge by scoring 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Jones has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Caleb Sanders, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Bell Creek Academy's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-11. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for IMG Academy Silver, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.
