Coventry hasn't had much luck against Cloverleaf recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Coventry Comets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cloverleaf Colts at 11:30 a.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Coventry came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were outmatched by Norton and fell 61-28. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 596th, while the Panthers are ranked 210th).
Coventry's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Danica Baird, who posted four points and three steals, and Kayla Munn, who scored ten points. What's more, Munn also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in February of 2024.
Even though they lost, Coventry smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Cloverleaf played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Streetsboro, falling 62-25. The matchup marked the Colts' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Coventry will have to contain Emma Hibler as she made an impact in Cloverleaf's last game. She had four points and five boards.
Cloverleaf's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Coventry, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Coventry has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 35.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Cloverleaf struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.4 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Coventry was dealt a bruising 60-29 defeat at the hands of Cloverleaf when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Will Coventry have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
