McHenry has gone 8-2 against Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Warriors will be playing at home against the Rockets at 4:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Central will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: McHenry extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Warriors came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Prairie Ridge. Natalie Bender spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Danica McCarthy was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Frederick, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Central ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Hampshire 7-6.
The team relied heavily on Alexis Skarda, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 12 games. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Covey, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
The win got McHenry back to even at 11-11. As for Central, their victory bumped their record up to 10-12-1.
Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: McHenry has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. It's a different story for Central, though, as they've only averaged .337.
