Lafayette hasn't had much luck against Anderson County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Generals are taking a road trip to take on the Bearcats at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Lafayette sitting on six straight victories and Anderson County on 15.
On Wednesday, Lafayette beat Franklin County 8-4.

Abby Winkler made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Combs, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kierstyn Kelley, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Lafayette hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Anderson County got themselves on the board against Boyle County on Wednesday, but Boyle County never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Rebels with a sharp 6-0 win. The Bearcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.
Like Lafayette, Anderson County also got a great game from a two-way player: Lacey Osborne. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Osborne was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Emma Stevens was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Liliana Mefford was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
Anderson County's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Lafayette, their record now sits at 21-7.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lafayette hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Anderson County struggles in that department as they've averaged .358. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lafayette couldn't quite get it done against Anderson County in their previous matchup back in April as they fell 9-4. Can the Generals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
