The Thunder Basin Bolts waltzed into their contest Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 54-40 victory over Kelly Walsh. That's another feather in the cap for Thunder Basin, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Thunder Basin was led to victory by Kambel Cox and Brooke Kendrick. Cox scored 12 points, while Kendrick scored 14 points. The match was Cox's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Addison Rouse, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Kelly Walsh lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Peyton Hill, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillian Hudson, who scored seven points.
Thunder Basin's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Kelly Walsh, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Thunder Basin and Evanston will face off on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Evanston will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Wyoming Rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Thunder Basin is ranked 18th). Kelly Walsh will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sheridan at 3:30 p.m. on January 11, 2024.
