The Buckeye Hawks won the last time they faced the Independence Patriots, and things went their way on Monday too. Buckeye blew past Independence, posting a 62-8 victory on the road. Given Buckeye's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while Independence is ranked 271st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Buckeye to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isabel Ramirez, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. The game was Ramirez's third in a row with at least ten points. Tia Chapman was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Buckeye's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Independence, their defeat was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-6.
Buckeye will take on Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Independence, they will head out on the road to face off against Cactus Shadows at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
