The Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons will head out on the road to face off against the Riverview Sarasota Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Charlotte can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They breezed by Ida Baker on the road to the tune of 44-7. With Charlotte ahead 37-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Charlotte can attribute much of their success to Aaronte Wesley, who rushed for 42 yards and two touchdowns, and Logan Flaherty, who threw for 146 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Riverview Sarasota over Sarasota in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Riverview Sarasota blew Sarasota out of the water with a 48-6 final score. Given Riverview Sarasota's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 67th, while Sarasota is ranked 291st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Isaiah Belt went supernova for Riverview Sarasota, rushing for 179 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Belt was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 57 yards. Dj Johnson and his 140 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Riverview Sarasota's victory.
Charlotte's victory pushed their record up to 4-5, while Riverview Sarasota's bumped their own up to the opposite: 5-4.
Charlotte might still be hurting after the 41-21 loss they got from Riverview Sarasota in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Charlotte avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
