Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed ten in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Israel Soto, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Karnes City's defense still kept up the pressure with five sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Logan Lopez and Hunter Mayes, who each picked up two sacks apiece.
Meanwhile, George West put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 69-32 victory over Taft. With the Longhorns ahead 44-20 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Karnes City better keep an eye on Kohen Blount. He was instrumental in George West's win, rushing for 123 yards and four TDs. Blount is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 109 every time he's taken the field this season.
George West was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 447 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 287 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
George West's record is now 10-0. As for Karnes City, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 6-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Karnes City has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 309 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like George West struggles in that department as they've been averaging 417 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Karnes City strolled past George West in their previous matchup back in October of 2021 by a score of 24-6. Do the Badgers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Longhorns turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
