On Friday, the Pleasant Grove Vikings faced the Lone Peak Knights in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Pleasant Grove ended up on the wrong side of a tough 71-46 walloping at the hands of Lone Peak. Pleasant Grove has struggled against Lone Peak recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Pleasant Grove saw an underclassman step up: Tabi Clark scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Cash Connors, who scored five points.
Lone Peak's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shawnee Nordstrom, who scored 21 points along with nine steals and six rebounds. Sarah Bartholomew was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds and six steals.
Pleasant Grove's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4. As for Lone Peak, they pushed their record up to 6-6 with that win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pleasant Grove will take on Westlake at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lone Peak, they will be playing at home against American Fork at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. American Fork will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Lone Peak is ranked fourth).
