The Ridgewood Rebels will take on the Streamwood Sabres at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Ridgewood lost 10-4 to Riverside-Brookfield on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Rebels in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.
Ridgewood got a good showing from Audrey Sisco, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those zero earned runs gave Sisco a new career-low.
At the plate, Ridgewood saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tessa Hanson, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Anabelle Mikrut was another, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Streamwood). Everything went their way against Elgin on Tuesday as they made off with a 17-4 victory. With that win, the Sabres brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Streamwood got a massive performance out of Justice Coats, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriella Ponta, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Streamwood's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Ridgewood, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
Streamwood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Ridgewood has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Streamwood, though, as they've been averaging 15.4 hits. Given Ridgewood's sizable advantage in that area, the Sabres will need to find a way to close that gap.
Ridgewood got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Streamwood by a conclusive 23-5 score. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Sabres have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
