After having lost a blowout in their previous game against McComb, the Perry Commodores were happy to have found some success on Thursday. Everything went their way against Ridgemont as Perry made off with a 48-27 victory. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Perry has managed all season.
Perry's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zyasija Scott, who scored ten points along with six steals. Scott is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Mary Hoersten was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Despite the loss, Ridgemont saw an underclassman step up: Ruth Eckstein scored six points along with ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Eckstein has scored all season.
The win got Perry back to even at 2-2. As for Ridgemont, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Perry will head out on the road to face off against Ada at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Ada is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for Ridgemont, they will be playing at home against Ridgedale at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ridgedale presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ridgemont in Ohio (Ridgedale is ranked 279th, while Ridgemont is ranked 748th).
