Two dominant guards in Elijah Sykes and Aidan Crawford are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Pleasant Grove Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Davis Sr. Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses for Pleasant Grove and three for Davis Sr.
Pleasant Grove pushed their score all the way to 64 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 76-64 to Cosumnes Oaks. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (63), Pleasant Grove still had to take the loss.
The losing side was boosted by Sykes, who scored 30 points. Nathan Ruff was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Davis Sr. lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Monday was a bit more commanding. They took a serious blow against Jesuit, falling 88-45. Davis Sr. has struggled against Jesuit recently, as their contest on Monday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Pleasant Grove's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Davis Sr., they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Pleasant Grove against Davis Sr. in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 75-41 victory. With Pleasant Grove ahead 47-16 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
