If The Rushville Lions were riding high off their 52-13 takedown of the Greensburg Pirates last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Rushville was dealt a 35-6 loss at the hands of Batesville on Friday. Rushville was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.
Nick Jarman threw for 60 yards on three of 12 attempts. Braydon Wilson was his top target, picking up 49 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, Harper Miller rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown.
Batesville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Will Jaisle, who threw for 151 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Jaisle is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cade Kaiser, who picked up 88 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Rushville's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-7. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Batesville, South Dearborn, and Lawrenceburg. As for Batesville, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Rushville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Batesville will be playing at home against Lawrenceburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lawrenceburg is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
