New London is 6-1 against Killingly since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The New London Whalers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Killingly Redmen at 3:00 p.m. One thing working in New London's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine contests.
Even though East Lyme scored an imposing 59 points on Tuesday, New London still came out on top. New London took down East Lyme 77-59.
New London's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Devan Williams led the charge by scoring 20 points along with five assists and three steals. Williams has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. Da'Shaun Phillips was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Killingly's 17-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 57-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Waterford on Thursday.
New London's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 85.7 points per game. As for Killingly, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Everything came up roses for New London against Killingly in their previous meeting back in January of 2020 as the team secured a 78-49 win. Does New London have another victory up their sleeve, or will Killingly turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
