The Lincoln Railsplitters will head out on the road to square off against the Flat Rock Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lincoln is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 15 runs per game this season.
Monroe hit Lincoln with a four-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Railsplitters fell 10-7 to the Trojans. The match marked the Railsplitters' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Alyssa Strickland was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base was her first of the season. Autumn Anderson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Flat Rock entered their tilt with Huron on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Chiefs, sneaking past 4-2.
Emma Neace spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits.
At the plate, Flat Rock saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vanessa Neace, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Flat Rock pushed their record up to 7-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Lincoln, they moved to 4-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lincoln hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .461. However, it's not like Flat Rock struggles in that department as they've averaged .332. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
