Despite their defeat, Gaston Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jeremy Duhon, who posted eight points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Luke, who earned five points.
Meanwhile, Gaston Day came up short against Concord Academy on Tuesday and fell 76-64. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Eagles are ranked fifth).
Gaston Christian will have to keep a close watch on Dylan Bradley and Deshawn Coulter, a pair of players who had a big impact on Gaston Day's prior game. Bradley had 22 points and six boards, while Coulter scored 17 points and eight rebounds. Coulter is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Braylen Todd, who put up eight points.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Gaston Christian hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 60.1 points per game. However, it's not like Gaston Day struggles in that department as they've been averaging 67.8 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Everything went Gaston Christian's way against Gaston Day when the teams last played last Monday, as Gaston Christian made off with a 72-48 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gaston Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
