Dixie Heights has gone a perfect 10-0 against Holy Cross recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Colonels will welcome the Indians at 5:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Dixie Heights is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since April 27th on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over Scott. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Colonels.
Ian Meyers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sean Mitchell, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Dixie Heights: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 12-15 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Stulz, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Holy Cross ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past Trimble County 7-6. The victory was some much needed relief for the Indians as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
David Wilson was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cooper Brue, who went 3-for-5 with two doubles and one RBI.
Dixie Heights now has a winning record of 17-16. As for Holy Cross, their win bumped their record up to 13-19.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Dixie Heights has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Holy Cross struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Dixie Heights was able to grind out a solid victory over Holy Cross in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, winning 7-2. Will the Colonels repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
