The Valley Vista Monsoon pushed their score all the way to 55 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Shadow Ridge 60-55. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Valley Vista of the 69-63 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Several Monsoon players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nate Cosio, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Currington, who scored 11 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Among those leading the charge was Marshawn Mccullum, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Seth Bohon, who scored eight points.
Valley Vista has been struggling recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Shadow Ridge, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
Valley Vista will head out on the road to challenge Maricopa at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Allowing an average of 66.9 points per game, Maricopa has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this contest. As for Shadow Ridge, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Cibola at 5:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Cibola is ranked 125th, while Shadow Ridge is ranked 120th).
