Even though the De Anza Dons have not done well against the Vallejo Redhawks recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. De Anza pulled ahead with a 65-64 photo finish over Vallejo. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
De Anza's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ahmari Otis, who scored 22 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Otis has scored at least 25% of De Anza's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacari Madison, who scored 22 points.
De Anza's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Vallejo, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
De Anza will stay at home for another game and welcome Arroyo at 4:00 p.m. on January 6th. As for Vallejo, they will head out on the road to face off against Pinole Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
