Many high school football players love expressing themselves on social media. But some prospects take it to another level.
Here's a look at the five players owning the Twittersphere.
Tate Martell, Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas): @TheTateMartellHigh school football fans know Martell as being one of the most exciting playmakers in the game. But the magical Martell might also be the most engaging personality on Twitter. His description of "Trendsetter" says it all. Whether he's hyping up his team, recruiting prized players to join him at Ohio State, or simply speaking his mind - Martell sure keeps his 24,400 followers wanting more. He racked up 5,145 passing yards, 1,037 rushing yards and 86 total touchdowns in spearheading Bishop Gorman to a perfect 28-0 mark as the starter. The nation's No. 2-ranked dual-threat quarterback will look to lead the No. 3 Gaels to their eighth-consecutive state title in Nevada.
Tyjon Lindsey, Centennial (Corona, Calif.), @tyjonlindseyLindsey is arguably the most electrifying prospect in the country. But as seen from his account, he's also one of the most opinionated players on Twitter. Lindsey is always active on social media and keeps his 16,800 followers entertained. The nation's fifth-rated receiver posted 1,130 all-purpose yards and 16 total touchdowns last season in helping Bishop Gorman to its seventh-straight state title in Nevada. But Lindsey transferred to Centennial this offseason and seeks to charge the No. 21 Huskies to a state championship. Lindsey will decide amongst Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee and USC on Aug. 22.
Marvin Wilson, Episcopal (Bellaire, Texas), @RDMW6
The nation's No. 3 overall prospect is arguably the most outgoing personality on Twitter. His nickname of "Hollywood Marv" pretty much sums him up. As seen in his profile, the outspoken Wilson is a "real life goon." The 6-foot-4, 329-pound specimen is an intriguing prospect, and 247's Crystal Ball has LSU and Texas as the frontrunners.
Xavier Mckinney, Roswell (Ga.), @mckinney_xavier
The nation's No. 11 safety is as honest as they come. As shown in his profile, McKinney keeps it real with his 2,974 followers. McKinney was also not shy about confronting the naysayers of his decommitment from Alabama on July 14. He recorded 111 tackles, nine interceptions and 13 pass deflections in charging Roswell to the state championship last season. He'll lead the No. 7 Hornets' quest for a national title this year, and 247Sports' Crystal Ball has McKinney headed to Clemson.
Lamont Wade,
Clairton (Pa.),
@Goony_38The nation's No. 6 cornerback might have the best Twitter handle of all the prospects in high school football and his nickname "38 Savage" is tough to beat. Wade was also pretty forthright about Michigan's recruitment of him. He registered more than 1,000 rushing yards on just 99 carries last season in guiding Clairton to 14 wins. Wade could eclipse 6,000 rushing yards for his career, and 247Sports' Crystal Ball has Wade targeted for Penn State.
