The Holly Wildcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Las Animas and snuck past 68-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Holly got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Andre Salgado out in front who scored 27 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Salgado has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Eaton, who scored 26 points.
Las Animas lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tj Ortiz, who scored 23 points. Brander Nichols was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Holly's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Las Animas, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holly will take on Crowley County at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Crowley County will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. As for Las Animas, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Calhan at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Calhan is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
