Hallettsville is 9-1 against Industrial since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Brahmas will host the Cobras at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hallettsville had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Palacios on Friday. The Brahmas blew past the Sharks 19-4. The Brahmas' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Taylor Yeatts was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Yeatts was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Hanna Zachary was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Caitlynn Halata, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Hallettsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palacios only posted an OBP of .300.
Meanwhile, Industrial gave up the first runs last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over Rice Consolidated.
Like Hallettsville, Industrial also got a great game from a two-way player: Khloe Lumpkins. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Lumpkins has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Industrial got a massive performance out of Carlee Burow, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Those three runs gave Burow a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleisa Popp, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Hallettsville is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Industrial, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6-1.
Hallettsville came up short against Industrial when the teams last played back in March, falling 6-3. Will the Brahmas have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
