After five games on the road, Marksville is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Avoyelles Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Marksville is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Avoyelles in Louisiana (Marksville is ranked 93rd, while Avoyelles is ranked 222nd).
Last Tuesday, Marksville suffered a rough 65-42 defeat at the hands of Alexandria. Marksville has not had much luck with Alexandria recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Meanwhile, Avoyelles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past St. Joseph's - Plaucheville 69-49. That 69-49 margin sets a new team best for Avoyelles this season.
Marksville's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Avoyelles, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-5.
Marksville came up short against Avoyelles in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 41-31. Can Marksville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
