Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Hampton). They blew past the Nevada Blue Jays 16-6 on Thursday. The  victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
 Gus Sweeney was a  major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  struck out eight batters over  five innings while giving up  three earned  (and three unearned) runs off only  one  hit. That's the most  strikeouts  he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-4 with two  runs, two  doubles,  and two  RBI. Those  RBI were  his first of the season.
 In other batting news, Hampton got a  massive  performance out of  Jaden Johnston, who  went 2-for-4 with four  stolen bases, three  RBI,  and two  runs. Those  four  stolen bases gave  Johnston a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Eli Chandler, who  went a perfect 1-for-1 with two  stolen bases, three  RBI,  and two  runs.
 Hampton  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .625. That's the best  OBP they've posted all season.
Hampton picked up their first home  win, bumping their record up to 2-16-1. As for Nevada,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 6-6.
 Looking ahead, Hampton will look to defend their home field  on Monday against Drew Central  at 5:00  p.m. As for Nevada, they will take on Columbia Christian at 5:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Blue Jays will need to watch out since the Crusaders have now posted at least ten  runs  in their last three matchups.
