This season hasn't been kind to the Butternut Midgets, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They were outmatched by Winter on the road and fell 93-24. Butternut lost against Winter in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 79-34 score last time.
Gunnar Greuel was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 19 rebounds for Winter. The match was Greuel's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Curtis Thompson, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds.
Butternut bumped their record down to 0-9 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Winter, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Butternut is on the road again on Thursday and play against South Shore at 7:15 p.m. on January 4, 2024. As for Winter, they will challenge Webster at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
