The Neuse Charter Cougars will be playing at home against the North Duplin Rebels at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neuse Charter is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home.
Neuse Charter suffered their biggest loss since November 24, 2023 last Friday. They were beaten by Franklin Academy 76-38.
Jayvin Bradley put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 21 points along with nine rebounds. That was a full 55.3% of Neuse Charter's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Atkinson, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, North Duplin pushed their score all the way to 61 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Spring Creek by a score of 64-61. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat North Duplin has suffered yet this season.
Despite the defeat, North Duplin got a solid performance out of Dujuan Armwood, who scored 28 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Armwood has scored all season. Treshawn Ruffin was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds.
Neuse Charter has fallen quite a ways from their 26-5 record last season and are now at 3-14. As for North Duplin, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Neuse Charter against North Duplin when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 86-47 win. With Neuse Charter ahead 50-20 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
