Given Evergreen Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Virginia Academy is ranked 175th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Evergreen Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Britt, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Matthew Shelton, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rondel Jones Jr., who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Reyes Jr., who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Evergreen Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for Virginia Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-17.
Evergreen Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Highland at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Virginia Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Benedictine at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
