Baseball Recap: Lake Norman Falls Short of Mooresville in the Playoffs

Lake Norman and Mooresville squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Lake Norman had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 4-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Blue Devils: they've now lost three in a row.

Lake Norman got a good showing from Caden Beaver, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Beaver also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Wildcats are 7-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 9-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Lake Norman saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Jacobsen, who went 2-for-5 with one run and one double.

Lake Norman's loss dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Mooresville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.

Lake Norman does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mooresville, they will take on Myers Park on Friday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Blue Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
