Meanwhile, even though University scored an imposing 55 points on Monday, Capital Prep still came out on top. Capital Prep walked away with a 64-55 victory over the Hawks. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Capital Prep.
Capital Prep's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amare Cockfield, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Syre Gillespie, who scored 23 points along with four steals.
Classical Magnet is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Capital Prep, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Classical Magnet was able to grind out a solid victory over the Trailblazers when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 60-52. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Gillespie, who scored 21 points along with four steals.
