The Friends Seminary Owls will square off against the Packer Collegiate Institute Pelicans at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Friends Seminary was handed a ten-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over Leman Manhattan Prep. The win continues a trend for the Owls in their matchups with the Bull: they've now won five in a row.
Michael Isaacson was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of John Mulvihill, who earned one RBI and two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Packer Collegiate Institute waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 11-3 victory.
Caius Ko tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Corbett Yaggy, who went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Henry Solmo Brewer was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Packer Collegiate Institute pushed their record up to 7-6-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Friends Seminary, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Friends Seminary beat Packer Collegiate Institute 10-7 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Owls have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pelicans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
