Baseball Recap: Salem Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

Salem had won three straight on the road, but on Monday they bumped their record up to 4-3 to make it four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Fort Ann Cardinals a 4-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Generals also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Fort Ann's batters probably weren't too happy with Stephen Yakubec, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 18 Ks (he gave up three walks). Yakubec has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single hit in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chase Baylor, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. Quinten Rushinski also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

As for Fort Ann, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4. The match marked the first time this year in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Fort Ann's side, Hunter Charpentier spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

Coming up, Salem will face off against Argyle at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Generals are facing the Scots at the right time seeing as the Scots are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Fort Ann, they will take on Whitehall at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
