The Rocky Mountain Grizzlies are taking a road trip to square off against the Timberline Wolves at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Timberline took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Rocky Mountain, who comes in off a win.
Rocky Mountain is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Ridgevue, who was ranked 25th at the time (Rocky Mountain was ranked fifth). The Grizzlies came out on top against the Warhawks by a score of 6-3 on Tuesday.
Rocky Mountain got a great performance from Reece Hudson as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
At the plate, Aiden Henzler was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Mathis, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Rocky Mountain hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ridgevue struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Timberline started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Ridgevue. They fell just short of the Warhawks by a score of 8-7 on Thursday.
Aidan Messerschmitt was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Sweet, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Rocky Mountain's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Timberline, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.
Everything went Rocky Mountain's way against Timberline in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Rocky Mountain made off with a 15-5 win. Do the Grizzlies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
