4A Region III District 21 recap Oct. 16, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Sharpstown, who took down 529th ranked Sharpstown, 22-21. Tyron Washington threw for 160 yards and two touchdowns and ran for five yards in the win.
Reagan moved up to 666 from 795 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region III District 21. The Bulldogs climbed the ranks as a result of beating the Apollos 22-21.
Reagan's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Tavon Dodd chipped in 86 yards. Malcolm LaFleur helped Reagan's passing attack out by catching five balls for 62 yards.
Javon Conner was the best wideout in the league this week as Stephen Dixon, Sr.'s team beat Sharpstown. Conner racked up three receptions for 68 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Washington of the Bulldogs is the league leader in passing yards this season with 908. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. On the ground, the Apollos' jerrod Taylor has rushed for 336 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Everick Austin. The Milby star has 26 catches for 467 yards.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when North Forest takes on Waltrip. The Bulldogs have allowed 25 points this season, while the Rams have given up 126.
Wheatley was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 10th to seventh in 4A Region III District 21. The Wildcats vanquished Austin 34-20 earlier in the week.
