The Leonardtown Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the North Point Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Leonardtown is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maryland's top teams: Chopticon, who was ranked fifth at the time (Leonardtown was ranked fourth). The Raiders put the hurt on the Braves with a sharp 7-1 win on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Raiders sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.

Claire Radford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Vanessa Brooks was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Lindsay Hunter, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Point). They were the clear victors by a 22-1 margin over St. Charles on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with St. Charles: they've now won five in a row.
Alyssa Blaney and Sophia Weedin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Blaney struck out nine batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Weedin pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). At bat, Blaney got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs and one RBI, while Weedin got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Emily Yanick and Aminah Ayyad did most of the damage at the plate: Yanick went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double, while Ayyad got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI Yanick has posted since back in May of 2024. Jordyn Williams also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
North Point always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .825. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Leonardtown pushed their record up to 16-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for North Point, their record now sits at 10-7.
Leonardtown's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Raiders have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for North Point, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Leonardtown continue to outrun the ball?
Leonardtown took their victory against North Point when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 8-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
