The Carter-Riverside Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 22nd straight defeat. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 51-26 walloping at the hands of Young Men's Leadership Academy. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Carter-Riverside of the 66-40 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Despite the loss, Carter-Riverside saw an underclassman step up: Johnathan Owens scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Owens has scored all season.
Carter-Riverside struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-5) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Carter-Riverside's loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-24. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.3 points per game. As for Young Men's Leadership Academy, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-17.
Coincidentally, Carter-Riverside and the will both be playing the Bobcats the next time they take the court. Young Men's Leadership Academy will host Benbrook at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Carter-Riverside will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
