Sahuaro had won nine straight games and Cisco Llamas did his part to make it ten on Friday. The Sahuaro Cougars walked away with a 67-56 win over the Saguaro Sabercats thanks in part to Llamas, who posted 25 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Jamaal McCraney, who put up four points and three blocks. That's the most blocks he has posted since back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Saguaro saw an underclassman step up: freshman Nas Hailey went 8 of 16 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Justice Hinds, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 11 points and five steals.

Sahuaro's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.5 points per game. As for Saguaro, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-1.

Sahuaro will take on Rangeview in a holiday battle at at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Sahuaro knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Rangeview likes a good challenge. As for Saguaro, they will venture away from home to challenge Thunderbird at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Saguaro is facing Thunderbird at the right time seeing as Thunderbird is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
