South Effingham kicked off their season on the road  on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Lakeside Panthers by a score of  2-1. The  defeat   continues a  trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost six in a row.
  Leah Magana and  Lauren Olson certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss.  Magana  had 22  assists and three  digs, while  Olson  had seven  digs and one  assist.
Lakeside has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
 South Effingham didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next  game,  a  2-0  loss against Statesboro on the 7th. As for Lakeside, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Grovetown  at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
