The Land O' Lakes Gators's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 72-57 to Mitchell. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Land O' Lakes still got an impressive performance from Jordan Massie, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maxwell Moore, who scored 11 points.
Ben Unger was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with six rebounds for Mitchell. Another player making a difference was Emanuel Beacham, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Land O' Lakes has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Mitchell, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10.
Land O' Lakes will be playing at home against Wiregrass Ranch at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wiregrass Ranch knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 20 matches -- so hopefully Land O' Lakes likes a good challenge. Mitchell will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Anclote at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. Anclote is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home.
