Salem has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Lake George Lakers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Tuesday, Salem was the victim of a rough 52-29 loss at the hands of the Panthers. Salem was down 45-23 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Meanwhile, Lake George's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight defeat. They suffered a rough 48-23 defeat at the hands of Hadley Luzerne. Lake George was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-10.
Despite the defeat, Lake George had strong showings from Emily Guidetti, who scored four points along with nine rebounds, and Chloe Popa, who scored 11 points along with two steals. Popa has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.
Salem has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Lake George, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14.
Salem was able to grind out a solid win over the Lakers when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 51-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Salem since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
