Saegertown has gone 9-1 against Maplewood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Saegertown Panthers take on Maplewood Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Saegertown's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Cochranton. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.
William Shaffer made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over 5.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two RBI.

In other batting news, Saegertown let Blake Leslie and Wyatt Burchill run wild. Leslie scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4, while Burchill scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those four hits gave Leslie a new career-high. Everett Gardner was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Saegertown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cochranton only posted a batting average of .071.
Meanwhile, Maplewood strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Jamestown 18-4. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Landyn Reynolds and Gavin Reynolds made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Reynolds pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Gavin tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Reynolds scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Gavin scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Landyn is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played dating back to last season.
In other batting news, Chase Koelle and Levi Willison did most of the damage at the plate: Koelle scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Willison scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Koelle has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Mitchell Potosky also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Saegertown now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Maplewood, their record now sits at 4-0.
Maplewood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Saegertown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .361. It's a different story for Maplewood, though, as they've only averaged .239. Will they be able to contain Saegertown's hitters?
Everything went Saegertown's way against Maplewood when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Saegertown made off with a 12-2 win. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
