Softball Recap: Fountain Inn Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Fountain Inn lost to Travelers Rest on March 12th, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. Fountain Inn put the hurt on Travelers Rest with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Fury might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Fountain Inn got a great performance from Halle Baker as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, Baker posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Fountain Inn let Bethany Brown and Zoey Williams run wild. Brown scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Williams scored a run while going 2-for-3. Brown has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Peyton Kinsler also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Fountain Inn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Fountain Inn's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Travelers Rest, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Fountain Inn will head out on the road to face off against Laurens at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fountain Inn's pitchers better be ready for this one: Laurens has averaged an impressive 11.7 runs per game this season. As for Travelers Rest, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Daniel at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Daniel has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.27 runs per game on average), something Travelers Rest will no doubt try to take advantage of.
