Union City lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Bayonne, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's game. The Soaring Eagles were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Bees on Monday. Considering the Soaring Eagles have won nine matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Wilme Mas Sarda made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Jayden Perez was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Cristian Mejia, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Union City has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Bayonne, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4.

Union City will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bees: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
