The Wekiva Mustangs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They claimed a resounding 68-11 victory over Freedom at home. Considering Wekiva has won four matches by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wekiva to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tierra Coleman, who scored 16 points along with eight steals and five assists. Those eight steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Pooler, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Wekiva is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Freedom, they bumped their record down to 2-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wekiva will play host again and welcome Lake Howell, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Howell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while Wekiva is ranked 133rd). Freedom will be home for the holidays to greet Oviedo at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
