On Tuesday, the Sussex Tech Ravens faced the Cape Henlopen Vikings in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Sussex Tech lost to the Vikings on the road by a decisive 57-40 margin. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Sussex Tech of the 64-27 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Cape Henlopen was led to victory by Amalia Fruchtman and Faith Re. Fruchtman scored 19 points along with two blocks, while Re scored 19 points along with five assists and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Re has scored all season. Ally Diehl was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
Sussex Tech's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Cape Henlopen, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.
Sussex Tech will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Delaware (Hodgson Vo-Tech is ranked 24th, while the Ravens are ranked 25th). As for Cape Henlopen, they will be playing at home against the Golden Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sussex Central is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
