The Kenwood Broncos stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They breezed by Englewood Stem on the road to the tune of 99-64. Given Kenwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Englewood Stem is ranked 422nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kenwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aleks Alston, who scored 18 points along with six assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Smith, who scored nine points along with eight blocks and seven rebounds.
The win was the third in a row for Kenwood, bringing their record for this year to 15-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.7 points per game. As for Englewood Stem, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kenwood will take on Perspectives Leadership at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Englewood Stem will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Perspectives-IIT/Joslin at 5:00 p.m. on February 13th.
