After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, the Blanco Panthers brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They took down Nixon-Smiley 57-43 on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Blanco also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2021.
Blanco's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mina Broyles led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 19 rebounds. Broyles is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Candice Lopez, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Blanco's win bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Nixon-Smiley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blanco will take on Canyon Lake at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Canyon Lake is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games. As for Nixon-Smiley, they will be playing at home against Skidmore-Tynan at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
